The last couple of weeks have been very busy for me. I have to study a lot. On friday I found the time to visit my friend Veerle. After I had left her house I got an e-mail saying that I got the job! On saturday I tried to study a lot but I went to bed really late. This was because I am stressed but also because I had to get up around 4 a.m., because I had to go to Schiphol Airport to say goodbye to Veerle. She is one of my best friends. I had to say goodbye to her because she is moving to the United States (Washington D.C.) for a year.
Veerle (click on her name to see her blog!) is going to work as an au-pair. This last year we got really close and apart from the regular visit to Starbcuks together we did some pretty cool things. I always knew that she was going to move but now I really had to say goodbye. Luckily her parents and sisters are really nice so I got to say goodbye to her at the airport.
Unfortunately when my dad woke me up, he had really bad/sad news for me. My uncle had passed away. Since I woke up pretty early I didn't really realize what my dad had just said. I went to the airport and I hugged Veerle goodbye. When I got back to the car I got pretty emotional because of these two things. I always had the plan to visit Veerle during her year. I had never thought that I would find a job this soon. So soon that I don't have the time to visit her. When I waved her goodbye I also thought about my uncle, which I don't have the opportunity to say goodbye to anymore.
I have some pretty important tests this week, but I decided that for my well-being it would be better to spend some time with my family. So I got in the car with my uncle, his girlfriend, my mom, Ruben (brother) and his girlfriend Raya. I spent the whole day with my family and I tried to help with the drinks, lunch and dinner a little bit. Most of them hadn't slept at all that night and I only slept for about 2 hours so when I got back to my house I slept for about 11 hours. I don't want to go into detail, but in all honesty this just sucks...
I am happy that I did have the chance to say goodbye to Veerle and I even got to talk to her already from her Hotel in New York! She has send me pictures too and everything looks really good. If you read this: Goodluck Veevz!
